For people who do not respond well to anti-depressant medications or psychotherapy, TMS or Trans-Cranial Magnetic Stimulation can be a highly effective option. It is safe, painless and performed on an outpatient basis in the physician’s office under his or her supervision.

TMS therapy works by passing electro-magnetic pulses to specific parts of the brain, including the frontal lobe, which affects mood, depression and the person’s overall sense of well-being. It is generally well tolerated with little side effects. After an appointment, the patient can usually drive and return to work.

In addition to depression, TMS therapy has been shown to be successful in treating anxiety and addiction disorders.

Spravato (Nasally administered Ketamine)

We are a certified Spravato treatment center and have been using nasally administered Ketamine to treat individuals who suffer from treatment resistant depression and have failed all other options for treatment. It works different from the oral antidepressants and actually targets the NMDA receptors in the brain. We have had great success with nasal ketamine and understand how to navigate the complex insurance approval process. Patients notice the antidepressant effects immediately after inhalation of ketamine which has been described as a “miracle drug” by many of our treatment resistant depression patients who experienced sustained happiness in their lives for the first time after treatment.

The first four weeks of treatment require two visits per week, with the next four weeks of treatment requiring one visit a week, with one to two visits per month of maintenance treatment thereafter. This treatment does not interfere with any existing treatment for depression which is continued without modification, The ketamine serves as a significant “booster” which propels people out of their deep, dark, depression and into a state of euphoria for the first time in years in many cases.

TMS Therapy (TransCranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a new, non-invasive treatment for depression. Some people suffering with depression do not respond to prescribed medications.  And the long term side effects of taking anti-depressants can cause serious complications. TMS Therapy has been demonstrated to be a very effective new treatment for depression and other issues.

TMS Therapy is a treatment that can be performed in a psychiatrist’s office, under their supervision, using a medical device called the TMS Therapy system. TMS is designed to stimulate the frontal portion of the brain which regulates a person’s mood. It is a treatment tool for various psychiatric conditions including major depression, anxiety and addiction.
